Navy Wins 2025 Event

The 3rd annual Commander-in-Chief’s Cup is in the books. The student-athletes from our nation’s Service Academies showed remarkable talent and composure over three rounds at Winged Foot Golf Club. This time, it was the United States Naval Academy’s turn to rise to the top, capturing its first outright Commander-in-Chief’s Cup title with a team score of 1388. Navy finished 18 strokes ahead of Army and 23 clear of Air Force.

Senior Jack Tarzy led the way for the Midshipmen, earning medalist honors with a 13-over-par 223, followed closely by classmate Chip Deegan in second at 225, Air Force’s Carson Baker in 3rd, Army’s Tyson Sparks in 4th and Air Force’s Brooks Morrell in 5th. With five Navy players finishing inside the top ten, the Mids’ depth and steady play proved the difference in a well-deserved victory.

On behalf of the players and coaches, Service Academies Golf Foundation would like to thank the staff and membership at Winged Foot Golf Club for their warm hospitality and generosity in hosting the Commander-in-Chief’s Cup.

HISTORY

Building on the prestige of the Service Academy Golf Classic, which ran from 1993 to 2012 and the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy contested annually among Army, Navy, and Air Force football teams, the Commander-in-Chief's Cup honors past, present, and future service members while celebrating friendship, shared values, and striving for excellence.

A key component of the Commander-in-Chief's Cup is the Collegiate-Am, where amateurs play with one Academy player in a shamble format. Proceeds from this event enable the Service Academies Golf Foundation to hold the Commander-in-Chief's Cup and donate back to the Academy golf teams. This year, the Collegiate-Am will be held at noon on Monday, September 29, 2025, with dinner to follow. (Jacket and tie or military uniform are required.)

THE 3ND COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF'S CUP WILL BE CONTESTED IN FALL OF 2025

Next year, the 3rd Commander-in-Chief's Cup will be contested at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York from September 29 to October 1, 2025. More details will be available in the Spring.
