ARMY WINS INAUGURAL COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF'S CUP

The inaugural Commander-in-Chief's Cup presented by Callaway Golf was held at The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia on April 16–18, 2023. The 54-hole event featured eight players from the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, and the United States Air Force Academy.

TIEBREAKER

The US Military Academy narrowly held on to win the inaugural Commander in Chief’s Cup. Team Navy closed a nine-shot gap after 36 holes to tie Army with an aggregate score of 1360, representing the best six of eight scores over three rounds of medal play. The tiebreaker used the seventh best score in round three and crowned Army as the champion. The United States Air Force Academy finished third with a score of 1373.

Keegan Shreves of Navy earned individual honors with rounds of 71, 72, and 75 in tough, windy conditions for a total of 218, 2 over par.

Building on the history of the Service Academy Golf Classic, which was contested from 1993 to 2012, and the rich history of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy contested annually among Army, Navy, and Air Force football teams, the Commander-in-Chief's Cup was created to honor those who have served, are serving, and will serve to protect all of us and the freedoms we cherish. And while this is a golf competition, it also celebrates the importance of camaraderie and friendship, shared values, and striving for excellence.
